John O'Groats to Land's End

In 2007, Nigel and Gordon cycled from John O'Groats in Scotland, to Land's End in England. The ride was 1,111 miles long (1,778 kms), and took them 14 days.  Soon after starting, they realised they were cycling against the prevailing winds, and it also snowed almost every day.    Still, a good time was had by all, and they raised lots of money for Yorkshire Cancer Research.

Below are a few photos of the trip.

Nigel and Gordon pose at the start.

Nigel and Gordon start peddling.  Happy and optimistic, severe hypothermia started to set in about 20 minutes after this photo was taken.

Gordon, frozen solid somewhere in Scotland.

One of the nicer B&B's ... not a flea in sight.
Nigel, muttering something about finally being able to get a decent pint.

... one of the few times Nigel was right ....

Lost somewhere in the middle of England, 'Indian Tracker' Denison makes another random guess which way they should peddle.

Gordon has lunch by the side of the road, waiting for Nigel to catch up (ie. the very small dot in the middle of the picture)
Nigel, seemingly heavily pregnant, stands in front of some hedge, somewhere.  Actually, that could be the Severn Bridge in the background.

Gordon, still freezing, wondering how come it was snowing in the south of England in April ... and wondering how lovely and warm it would be in Brisbane right about now.

The last few yards ...
Half deranged with cold and fatigue, Nigel and Gordon finish the ride at Land's End.
